A Bluet with her own agenda…
In the depths of winter, Big Al was given a book titled Bluets by Maggie Nelson, a gift from a dear friend. Bluets captures Nelson’s fascination with, and dynamic experience of, the colour blue. Blue tarp, she writes — always seems to be a blue fragment to be found when one is in search of the hue.
Thus, the birth of Bluettie. She is a tiny clay sculpture, accompanied by a collection of personal belongings. She is moulded over a rock found by the dam near Al’s studio. A Nephrologist (cloud expert), she records her observations in her cloud sightings book. She doesn’t need much and is especially fond of living with other artists. In her own blue zone, she travels in a small blue box that is (surprise surprise), painted blue.
She loves cloud-watching from her chair.
